Work With Us

We are currently hiring for Occasional Canine Coordinator (Supply / On-Call)

We’re looking for people who thrive in a hands-on, team-based care environment and are comfortable stepping in when needed. While you’ll be working with dogs all day, this role is much like child care — you’re entrusted with someone’s family member, and clear, thoughtful communication with dog parents is just as important as great dog handling. You’re dependable, professional, and comfortable being the face of The Homestead, sharing honest updates that build trust. You stay engaged, notice what needs doing, and take pride in doing things well.

This is physically demanding, outdoor work that requires flexibility and resilience. As an on-call/supply team member, you’ll fill in during busy periods and staff vacations, and your schedule may vary week to week. Some days you’ll work independently and need to balance supervision and task completion, other days you will be working alongside your team members on hikes, bathing dogs, or leading enrichment activities. You’ll regularly care for dogs with big personalities, which calls for patience, problem-solving, and emotional steadiness.

For those who enjoy the variety, the rewards are real. The work is demanding but deeply fulfilling. We build strong routines with the dogs, support one another as a close-knit team, and take pride in the care we provide. For the right person, this on-call role can grow into more consistent hours over time.

*The Homestead Nottawa is a private family home and professional facility - candidates who arrive on property without a scheduled appointment will be immediately disqualified from consideration, as unexpected visitors cause stress and anxiety for our dogs and pull staff away from their primary responsibility of hands-on dog care.
