SENIOR CANINE ATTENDANT  (20+ hours/week)

We are seeking candidates who are looking for a career in dog care, not just a job. We want team members who see themselves growing with us over the next year and beyond. If you're building toward a different career path, please check out our Canine Assistant position.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This position requires working outdoors for the majority of your shift (6-8 hours daily) in all weather conditions. We are not an indoor facility. If you don't genuinely love full-day outdoor work with dogs, this isn't the right role.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Primary: Walk dogs in groups (off-leash and on-leash) throughout the day in all weather

  • Supervise and monitor dog playgroups

  • Administer medications and manage feeding schedules

  • Deep clean kennels and facility

  • Handle client check-ins/check-outs and communication

  • Use our Gingr booking platform

  • Train and support newer team members

Non-Negotiable Requirements:

  • WEEKEND & HOLIDAY AVAILABILITY (this is essential)

  • High school diploma required (no current students)

  • Within 35-minute drive for emergency coverage

  • Physically capable of 6-8 hour shifts on your feet

  • Must genuinely love being outdoors all day, every day

  • Comfortable with technology and administrative tasks

  • Calm under pressure and exceptionally reliable

Work Schedule:

  • Part-time: 20-30 hours/week (potential to increase)

  • 4-5 days per week including Fridays and weekends/holidays

  • Shifts between 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

  • We operate 365 days a year

Pay: $17.60 - $21.00/hour based on experience

You'll Thrive Here If You:

  • Love being outside in all weather conditions

  • Find joy in walking dogs for hours

  • Can seamlessly shift between dog care and administrative work

  • Take pride in being the reliable team member everyone counts on

  • Have a "no task too small" attitude

  • Are flexible and adaptable - working with dogs means unplanned changes to days and schedules; if you need firm structure and predictability, this isn't the right job

How to Apply:

Email your cover letter and updated resume to info@thehomesteadnottawa.com. In your cover letter, explain how you see yourself growing with us over the next year and beyond.
